Each one deserves a song
People have made comments about how my music is generally subdued, sad, a little wistful maybe... and someone asked if I ever write anything upbeat. Let me be clear: I love all genres of music. It's all inspiring, and I'd love to experiment with different things in the future when I have access to more musicians, more time, and more experience. But, every artist has their style. I guess this is mine. I don't sit down and say, "I'm going to write a sad song now." It just comes out. And I let it.
In my everyday life I don't tend to dwell on sad things. But I want to be true to whatever the feeling is that has inspired the song. It's a voice I want untainted and honest. And once it's out there, I feel like I can make peace and move on.
I think every kind of feeling that rises in our hearts, yearning to be heard,
deserves a song.

An ode to trees, part 1
I am a tree-hugger. When I was a kid, I climbed them a lot, and felt protected by them. When I grew a little older and discovered the symbiotic relationship between people and trees (O2 and CO2) it fascinated me, and made them seem even more alive to me.
Because I was thinking about trees today, I dug up an old poem I wrote when I was 14. It may be a little cheesy, but it makes me happy.
My secret place
It seems these knobby handles
were put here just for me
The leafy frames of green and brown
make windows for to see
the wonders of my little world around
both flow'r and bee
All viewed from my cherished kingdom
high, inside a tree
